In fact, 83% live in Hochelaga-Maisonneuve!<\/strong><\/p>\n Reflecting the neighbourhood, the Carrefour welcomed parents and children who have recently arrived in the country: 52% of families using the Carrefour\u2019s services have been in Canada for less than 5 years.<\/strong> <\/p>\n The reality of immigration adds to the already complex realities families face every day. The Carrefour is a meeting place across social classes. According to Statistics Canada, the neighbourhood\u2019s median age was 35 in 2021. <\/p>\n Unfortunately, it still tops several rankings, with one of the highest rates of school dropout and poverty in the province.<\/p>\n Just over 21% of people aged 15 and over have no diploma, compared with 17% for the city of Montr\u00e9al as a whole, and 17% of children have a mother with no diploma or certificate. The neighbourhood\u2019s dropout rate is 41%, and the proportion of students diagnosed with a disability, adjustment difficulties, or learning difficulties ranges from 42% to 64% depending on the school. <\/p>\n Among families, there is a significant number of single-parent families\u201448%\u2014most of which are headed by a female parent. In addition, 22% of families live below the low-income threshold. <\/p>\n Hochelaga-Maisonneuve has a high number of renters\u201478%\u2014and more than a third of them spend over 30% of their income on housing.<\/p>\n In recent years, the number of families in the neighbourhood has increased, with some purchasing property in Hochelaga-Maisonneuve.<\/p>\n While the real estate market is booming and more well-off young families are moving into the neighbourhood, over 33% of residents are in a precarious economic situation.<\/p>\n Hochelaga-Maisonneuve has more than 50 community resources
