Special Events

Led by the team, designed for families

Special events are opportunities for staff from our three services to collaborate and combine their talents to offer unique, community-building moments. Beyond promoting Carrefour Familial Hochelaga within the neighborhood, these events are times for meeting, sharing, and great opportunities for new families to discover the organization.

The holiday season at the Carrefour

The month of December is very much alive at the Carrefour. Whether it’s Magic Christmas, the distribution of Christmas baskets, parties at Maison Oxygène Montréal, or community involvement, the team strives to make this period a time of mutual aid and solidarity.

Magic Christmas

Every year, thanks to the unwavering commitment of a team of volunteers, Carrefour families are invited to celebrate the holiday season together. Under the coordination of Céline Lavoie, dedicated volunteers give their time and resources so that every child receives a carefully chosen gift. The event culminates in a big party where children meet Santa Claus, capture the moment with a family photo, and enjoy fun activities. Beyond the gift distribution, Magic Christmas embodies the spirit of solidarity and sharing that drives Carrefour Familial Hochelaga.

Christmas Baskets

Thanks to the generosity of committed partners and donors, many families receive a food basket worth $200 to $300 each year. This essential helping hand lightens the load during an often difficult period and provides a real holiday meal to share as a family. It is a concrete gesture of solidarity that warms much more than just the plates.

A big thank you to Assurances Vezina, Pomerleau, and JTI MacDonald for their generosity in December 2024.

Christmas at Maison Oxygène Montréal

For many fathers staying with us, the holiday season can be an emotionally charged time. While some share these moments with their children, others experience this period without them, which can make the season particularly trying.

Every year, the Maison Oxygène Montréal team organizes fun activities on key days, such as Christmas and New Year’s Day, to brighten daily life and bring a little light to these more sensitive moments.

Thanks to the precious collaboration of Opération Père Noël, children also receive a personalized gift during a warm party organized by the staff.

Back-to-school party

A community-building event, the back-to-school party marks the end of summer vacation, the return to routine, and most importantly, the return to Carrefour Familial Hochelaga. It’s an opportunity for the organization to showcase its new programming, highlight its services, and reconnect with neighborhood families. Participants gather, and children reunite after the summer break. It’s a time for families to spend quality time together and enjoy free fun and cultural activities.
