A snapshot of families
Carrefour families
In 2023-2024, 392 households and 545 children visited Carrefour Familial Hochelaga, whether through Maison Oxygène Montréal, École Hors Murs, or the Maison de la famille.
New families at Carrefour Familial Hochelaga are referred by families already using the services or by partner organizations that share the mission. A mutual-aid network is then created, and the impact of the Carrefour’s work continues beyond the organization’s walls.
Deeply rooted in its neighbourhood, the organization mainly reaches families in the area. In fact, 83% live in Hochelaga-Maisonneuve!
Reflecting the neighbourhood, the Carrefour welcomed parents and children who have recently arrived in the country: 52% of families using the Carrefour’s services have been in Canada for less than 5 years.
The reality of immigration adds to the already complex realities families face every day. The Carrefour is a meeting place across social classes. Families with employment income, last-resort assistance, or benefiting from various social reintegration programs spend time together and support one another.
