Carrefour Familial Hochelaga is a well-established organization in the Hochelaga-Maisonneuve neighborhood that has been supporting families for nearly 50 years.
Located at the heart of its community, Carrefour Familial Hochelaga designs and implements innovative projects tailored to the evolving needs of families with children aged 0 to 17, helping them improve their quality of life and personal growth.
The Carrefour was born from an analysis that parents themselves conducted regarding their reality and the challenges they faced.
The range of programs offered to families is divided into three SERVICES:

- Maison Oxygène Montréal

History
In 1976, families from the Hochelaga-Maisonneuve neighborhood wanted to break the isolation they were living in. Parents called for a community space to discuss child education and family issues, to help one another, and to share their experiences.
Today, Carrefour familial Hochelaga has become a place for gathering, recharging, and mutual aid for hundreds of parents and children.
1976
Volunteers create the first organization for families in Hochelaga-Maisonneuve in a space on Cuvillier Street.
1982
Start of family camps: since then, 620 families have experienced family vacations at an outdoor center.
1985
Creation of the drop-in daycare: 3,000 children aged 3 months to 5 years have enjoyed stimulating experiences and activities.
1989
Opening of Maison Oxygène Montréal: to date, 1,225 fathers and their children have resided there.
2003
Major move of Carrefour Familial Hochelaga to its current site on d’Orléans Avenue, supported by a major fundraising campaign. The inauguration takes place on October 6.
2009
Opening of the Back to School program, now named École Hors Murs.
2013
Maison Oxygène Montréal now has two addresses, in addition to the Second Souffle apartments. The Réseau Maisons Oxygène is created, bringing together 4 houses. Opening of the Cafalaga daycare, a new community daycare center.
2018
Launch of the community fridge: the Frigo-don! The success of the Frigo-don relies on partner businesses and community organizations in the neighborhood fighting against food waste.
2019
Acquisition of a new building. A fourth component will be added to the services offered by Carrefour Familial Hochelaga: Maison Glaneuses, a transitional housing service with support for families in vulnerable situations.
2020
30th anniversary of Maison Oxygène Montréal. Maxime Le Flaguais is named spokesperson for Carrefour Familial Hochelaga.
2024
Launch of the Maison Glaneuses construction site, 20 subsidized housing units for 3 to 5 years dedicated to families.
2025
Closure of the École Hors Murs service after 15 years of educating parents. Meanwhile, Maison Glaneuses is now accepting applications. Families will move in in February 2026.
